BreakingNews debuts on Tumblr with a twist: We’ve hosted our behind-the-scenes Tumblr here for just over year now, and today we’re announcing the launch of a new Tumblr (breakingnews.tumblr.com) for our real-time breaking news coverage with a particular focus on eyewitness photos and video.   And you can help us.Similar to our @breakingnews Twitter account — where we keep an eye on #breakingnews hashtags — we’re now watching the “breaking news” tag on Tumblr.  If you’re posting a breaking story (or reblogging someone else’s), add the “breaking news” hashtag to flag our editors.  We’re specifically interested in eyewitness reports, like the photos we recently reblogged from the UK riots and a shooting in Boston. If you’re a news organizations on Tumblr — and we’re not following you — please let us know.   We love to reblog news orgs that break stories (or post great follow-ups), just like we do on BreakingNews.com, @breakingnews, Facebook.com/breakingnews and our Google+ account. “We’re so excited to welcome BreakingNews to Tumblr,” says Tumblr’s Mark Coatney. “BreakingNews has long been the best, first source of news on the Web, and their new Tumblr blog will be a tremendous asset to the Tumblr community. In turn, we think Tumblr’s rapidly growing global network of more than 25 million bloggers will become a great source for BreakingNews, and a powerful tool for citizen engagement worldwide.”We’re excited, too, because we believe Tumblr is an increasing source of real-time eyewitness reports from around the world.  Please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can make our Tumblr experience better!
